Last Day Together

It was our very last day together before heading back to school.

We had been attached at the hip pretty much all summer, and summer break was finally coming to an end. We were heading back to reality, back to our normal routine and back to spending the day apart.

So, naturally, we had to go out with a Big Bang. We needed to make our very last day together count, and go on the mama + son adventure of a lifetime (well, sort of).

I truly believe that when you end one thing and start another, you need to celebrate it. The good, the bad, the ugly - celebrate it all.

We achieved lots of amazing things over the summer, had some incredible moments, and now it was time to prepare for our next phase.

Here’s what we did to make our day extra special:

  1. We got out of our normal day to day routine - we jumped into our car and drove 45 minutes out of the city to the cutest little place in the country where it was just the two of us and we could make it magical

  2. I let him make all the decisions - he got to choose where we were going, what we were doing, what we were treating ourselves to and in what order, when it was time to go. He got to pick it all.

  3. We treated ourselves big time - I really didn’t say no to anything (within reason). He got to pick his favourite drink, a rather large and rich lunch, then dessert. I mean, we ate like Kings + Queens, and enjoyed it all

  4. It was just the two of us - I really wanted him to be the focus, and feel extra special. This was his day, and I was his co-pilot

  5. We didn't have a schedule, or constraints - the most important thing in our day was our little adventure, and the world could wait until we were ready to come home

Q. If you had to choose between a date in the city or country, what would you choose?
