Colour Your World

I’m all about creativity and healthy living in my house, and finding ways to keep stress levels low. Because let’s face it, nowadays it’s easy to carry a lot of stress around with you.

Whether you’re a kid or kid at heart, colouring is one of the easiest ways to relieve stress — and guess what, you don’t have to be an artist to do it!

I’m not talking about colouring fancy pictures or crazy illustrations. I’m simply talking about hand to paper squiggles with some kind of colouring utensil in your hand, like crayons, markers, paint, pastels, chalk or coloured pencils.

And when you do it, so many amazing things that happen!

Benefits of colouring:

  • Relaxes Your Brain

  • Creates Meditative State

  • Encourages Creativity

  • Reduces Stress + Anxiety

  • Improves Sleep + Focus

Steps:

  1. Pick your colouring medium - crayons, markers, paint, pastels, chalk or coloured pencils

  2. Pick your paper - a blank sheet or a page from a colouring book

  3. Put on Music - play relaxing music (the key is to make it instrumental)

  4. Dim the Lights - maybe even put on a few candles

  5. Get Colouring - and let the stress fade away

You can do this by yourself or with friends or family.

I like to colour with my kids, on a blank piece of paper or with a colouring book — and let me tell you, when you add a little quiet music, you can really feel the stress fade away!

PS. Don’t feel silly asking someone if they want to colour with you. Embrace it, and you will see how good it feels!
