DIY Wall Decor

Are you looking for an easy way to jazz up a room? Try creating a feature wall with simple + beautiful wall art. The best part is you can easily change it up when you want a new look.

When I was decorating Coco’s nursery, I wanted to make a feature wall to create a pop. There was so much we could do, but I wanted to keep it budget-friendly, simple and flexible in case I wanted to change up the look.

Wall paper is fantastic, but like a lot of decor, it has a shelf life and when you get sick of it, you have to take it down (which isn’t always easy).

But with prints, the world is your oyster. And if you make large prints for a feature wall, they give you the same pop that wall paper would.

My three-step trick for putting together beautiful + budget-friendly wall art:

  1. Prints - find the prints you like on Etsy. I searched everywhere for prints that I liked, and I found Etsy had a great selection. You’re also supporting a small business, and will work directly with the business owner. The trick here is to make sure you purchase the digital file, and not the actually print. This is where you’ll save a ton, plus then you can have that file to print as many times as you want. Make sure the file is large, and high resolution. It needs to be large enough to fit your frame size.

  2. Printer - once you have the digital file, take this to your local printer. Ask them to print it for your frame size, and make sure the resolution is clear. If for any reason your picture is coming out pixelated, you may have to go back to the seller for the right file size.

  3. Frames - there are so many options for frames. You can buy them from IKEA or even the dollar store for small frames. But my favourite place to buy frames is second-hand, either from Goodwill or on Facebook Marketplace. You’ll be amazed at the selection and how much money you will save.

I’m getting ready to redecorate Coco’s room from baby to big girl BUT I will definitely keep the wall art because it brings a pop to the room!
