Family Beach Day

We love our pool, but there is something magical about the beach. We just can’t get enough!

When you have little kids, though, nothing is ever simple - including a trip to the beach.

Here are my Top 5 favourite tips for going to the beach with your family, and number one is something all parents need to have.

Top Five Family Beach Day Tips:

  1. Go early - my husband is a huge advocate of going places early, and the beach is no different. We got there around 8:30 - 9 and it was quiet until 10 - 11 when people started arriving. We got our pick of seats, and got to play around before it was too crowded. Plus, we had our fill before it became too hot.

  2. Travel Light - bring only the necessities, as lugging all sorts of crap to the water is not fun and half the time you don’t use it all. Travelling light means an easy exit and clean up later.

  3. Bring a laundry hamper - and leave it in your trunk. Things get sandy, wet and dirty fast. If you have a laundry hamper in your trunk, you can easily dump all the dirty towels and clothes in there and then place it right in the wash when you get home

  4. Bring a beach toy kit - with a shovel, bucket, watering can, you name it. It’s light to carry, and our kids used the toys all day in the sand and water and had the best fun

  5. Get a light, durable fold-up wagon - not only is a wagon helpful at the beach to lug all your stuff to the water, it also can be used everywhere. There were so many times during our trip that I said I wish we had a wagon. They are the best, and every parent needs one.

If you had to choose between the pool or the beach, which would it be? I’d love to know. Tell me below.
