Learning to Draw

Chet has been on a rampage lately with drawing! He loves to draw. But he also gets really frustrated when he can’t figure out how to draw what he wants to.

We tried these five easy steps, and they really worked.

  1. Set Up a Space - we created a space at a table just for him with lots of room and no distractions

  2. Embrace Mistakes - I told him how Van Gough had to draw lots of sun flowers to finally get the perfect one

  3. Lots of Paper - this is the only time I embrace using lots of paper, because it’s part of the process

  4. Reference Photo - we pulled up a picture on my computer for him to see what he wanted to draw

  5. Break It Down - we looked at the picture and then broke it down into steps

PS. Chet drew a heart on his hand, and then said it represented his love for his mama. LOL. It was hard to get mad at him for that!

PPS. Vacation art is the best art!
