Homemade Marshmallow Recipe

You and your family will fall in love with this delicious and healthy homemade marshmallow recipe.

Not only are they easy to make with only five ingredients, they are actually good for you — making them a great alternative to the not-so-healthy store-bought marshmallows.

The two main ingredients are honey and grass-fed gelatin.

Grass-fed gelatin offers support for joint and bone health, muscle building, gut integrity and digestive health, skin and hair.

Honey is a great alternative to refined sugar. As a natural sweetener, it acts as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial agent.

This recipe is tons of fun to make. They only take ten minutes and stay fresh for up to three weeks — so a great addition to your family’s diet.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup water (divded)

  • 1 cup honey or maple syrup

  • 1/4 grass-fed galatin

  • 1/4 tsp sea salt or pink Himalayan salt

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • confectionery’s sugar for dusting (optional)

  • coconut oil (greasing)

RECIPE

Take an 8 x 8 or 9 x9 inch pan and grease the pan (bottom and sides) with coconut oil.

In a large mixing bowl, add 1/2 cup of warm water. Slowly add in the 1/4 of gelatin, whisking together. Let stand for 5 minutes.

In a saucepan, add 1/2 water, salt and honey. Whisk to together and bring to a boil. Continue whisking for about 5 minutes. Remove from element.

Using a hand or stand mixer, slowly add the honey mixture to the gelatin mixture. Add vanilla. Put mixer on high-speed and blend for about 5-7 minutes.

The trick here is not to over-blend. If you do, your mixture will curd. You will want to watch the mixture very closely. It will go from brown liquid to white foam. The trick is, as soon as it turns white and peaks start to form, you want to stop.

Take the mixture and pour it into the pan. Smooth out. Let sit on the counter for a minimum of four hours or overnight.

Remove from pan, and cut into squares. You can then dust it with confectionery sugar, chocolate or enjoy as is!
