Kids Table Setting

This is the cutest table setting for kids, and so easy to make. You will love making it just as much as your kids will love sitting at it. The best part is, you can sneak healthy snacks in because your kids will be mesmerized by it all.

MAKING CARDBOARD PLATES FOR KIDS

I don’t know about you, but I find so many things for kids get used once and then end up in the garbage. Walk the aisles of Party City and you will see shelf after shelf filled with disposable, one-time-use table decor like plates, cups, cutlery and napkins.

The neat thing about making your own kids plates (or chargers) is that you can use them more than once (just change the parchment paper), they’re made out of recycled cardboard and you can decorate them how you like. You can even get your kids to decorate them, while you sit back and relax.

KIDS TABLE SETTING

This kids table setting is easy to make and your kids will love it. To make the look complete, all you need is a table cloth, confetti, letters, cardboard, mod podge, glitter, parchment paper and treats — lots of treats!

You can even make the treats healthy because your kids will be excited by all the glitter.

Steps

  1. Spread out table cloth — choose the colour or pattern

  2. Sprinkle confetti on top of table cloth — keeping away from the edges

  3. Place kids plates around the table — in front of each chair

  4. Lay each kids name over a plate — using wooden letters

MAKING KIDS PLATES

Making kids plates (or chargers) from recycled cardboard is easy to do. All you need is cardboard, scissors or exacto knife, pencil, 2 x small plates for measuring, mod podge, glitter and parchment paper.

Steps

  1. Take a small plate, place on cardboard and trace it — creating a circle shape. Use exacto knife and scissors to cut shape out.

  2. Take a paint brush and brush the edges of the plate with a generous amount of mod podge, about 1 inch in.

  3. Sprinkle the edge with glitter, and let dry

  4. Use a smaller plate to trace a circle on the parchment paper, then cut it out with the scissors and stick on top of the plate

  5. Before using, shake off any excess glitter

For the plate rims, you can use any decoration you like — paint, stickers, paper, crayons, you name it. Let your kids decorate them to make it extra fun.

Making this table setting for kids is fun and easy, and your kids will love it.
