Homemade Gift Wrapping

Have you ever tried making homemade gift wrapping? WELL, I think it’s time that you did. It’s a FUN and EASY activity to do with your kids, and makes for a heart-filled, one-of-a-kind gift for someone special.

Help your kids get set-up by cutting the paper to size and creating the stamps (made from toilet paper rolls), and let them play for days as they decorate. Then wrap it up with a bow, gold glitter leaf and ‘handmade by’ stamp.

There are three stamps to choose from, and you can really pick any colours you would like. Your kids will love it!

SUPPLIES

  • roll of Kraft paper — cut to size (I used a paper cutter to make the lines straight, and cut 12” x 12” squares)

  • paint and paint brushes — your choice of colours (I used brown, yellow and orange for Fall, but you can pick any colours you like)

  • 3 toilet paper rolls

  • twine, tape and scissors

  • ‘handmade by’ stamp — bought at Michaels

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. cut Kraft paper to size, and lay flat on table

  2. leaf stamp — cut roll in half, then make a crease along one side to make a teardrop shape. Dip stamp in a generous amount of brown paint, and press on paper as many time as you like. Use a paint brush to create the leaf’s stem, and spine.

  3. sun stamp — on one end of a toilet paper roll, make slits about 1.5 inch up and 1 cm apart. Fold slits back to make a sun shape. Press ends into paint and push down on paper as many times as you like.

  4. firework stamp — repeat the same steps as the sun stamp, except make slits 1/4 cm part and dip in orange paint.

  5. once the paint has dried, add your ‘handmade by’ stamp and write your kid’s name in it

  6. then, wrap the gift with the paper and twine, making a bow with the gold glitter leaf (instruction below)
