Tootsie Rolls

Did you know? Long before I published Nothing You Can’t Do I made a cute little book called Tootsie Rolls – and it was my very first adventure in children’s books and publishing.

I can’t wait to tell you the scoop – here’s some of the best parts of making this little book.

  1. The book was written on a streetcar – I was working a job on the other side of Toronto and every day I rode the streetcar across and this is where I wrote my book, little by little, each and every day

  2. My illustrator was found on Craigslist – I put an ad out to find an illustrator for my book and looked at neatly 500 portfolios and they all were amazing. When I came across Amy’s portfolio, I knew she was the one

  3. I self-published the book all on my own – I decided to do it all myself because I wanted the experience, and so I found an editor and printer and then I built my website and sold my books online and in person at events

  4. Meeting readers is the absolute best – from the very beginning, I asked for photos of my book with all my readers and it was amazing – seeing your book with little kids enjoying it is the greatest gift

  5. I fell in love with the process – it’s the imagination, it’s the creativity, it’s thinking of different ideas and seeing them come to life, it’s the words, it’s the pictures and most of all it’s the ability to make a difference in a little one’s life – I fell in love with it all
